ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
I was inspired for this piece when a Male king parrot began visiting my back yard, late one spring. After a couple of weeks he brought his mate to visit. The male was very protective of her, being on the lookout while making sure she would eat and drink before he did. 
‘The Perfect Pair’ illustrates a loving pair of King Parrots in a magical rainforest setting. A grand staghorn, illuminated by the filtered sunlight, gives a sense of magnificence. The male King Parrot is shown as the protector as he is perched above the female. Sunlight shines down to the female with both of their eyes interlocked, representing  passion and a bond, that of soulmates.
